Open Position: Sound Designer

About Mini Pepper Games

Mini Pepper Games is a fully remote independent game studio focused on making games that are small but packed full of flavor. We're working on an unannounced cute, nonviolent, 3D exploration platformer for PC about a witch who rides her broomstick like a skateboard.

We are based in the US and strongly prefer US residents, but other candidates will be considered.

Your Role

You'll be creating or sourcing sound effects for both gameplay and simple in engine cutscenes, and then balancing them through work in FMOD and Godot.

- The setting is magical nature and much of the sound design work will be making the biomes feel alive and unique
- The movement system is core to the game and will require the most polish
- There is a large amount of dialogue and no voice acting, so adding sound to bring that to life will be critical

The position is on a contract basis. The hours are flexible; we don't have core hours or a company time zone. The contract is expected to be a few months of work. The payment structure can vary depending on your preference. This position will likely start around the end of September.

What we're looking for

- Examples of ambient/atmospheric sound design that has a sense of place
- Examples of sound design for interfaces
- Past contracting experience
- Past experience working with FMOD
- Ideally, US residency, although other candidates will still be considered
- Bonus: Skateboarding experience
- Bonus: Past work on trailers
- Bonus: Past experience in Godot

What we're NOT looking for

- AI use is strictly prohibited on any content that makes it into the game
